OnePlus confirmed that its latest flagship, the OnePlus 8 T, would have a new glossy finish on the Aquamarine Green edition, repelling fingerprints, but confirming early design reports were fairly correct.
Although waxing lyrical about how the current glossy texture was built over four months to create a glossy surface, but with an almost frost-like appearance underneath, OnePlus showed that leaked photographs of a new camera housing configuration were banging on the money.
OnePlus has been keen to point out for a few years that its sensor housing is down the middle and nearly symmetrical, matching the phone’s rear look. But with the Nord, the 8 T, that’s shifting.
There’s quite a big Samsung and Huawei-like rectangular protrusion in the phone’s top-left corner from the picture posted in its reveal message. And it looks like four camera lenses and two other circular components appear like Lead flashes.
OnePlus claims it comprises seven different layers placed together to give it the “special” green / blue hue and a shiny finish engineered to avoid fingerprints.
It also says it’s designed in a way that diffuses and refracts light to produce this smooth, polished, non-smudged look.
OnePlus says this finish is only on the Aquamarine Green variant in the announcement and has no other finishes. It may mean whatever other colours, whether black, grey or blue, they obviously won’t have the same finish.
Both info, as well as price and other specifications we don’t find out beforehand, will be revealed at the 14 October launch function.
