At first, Apple Intelligence was limited to English (US), but it eventually broadened its reach to include localized English for areas such as the UK, Australia, and Canada.

Apple has announced that its range of artificial intelligence features, referred to as “Apple Intelligence,” will launch in India with support for local languages in April, likely as part of the iOS 18.4 update for iPhones. During the recent quarterly earnings call, CEO Tim Cook mentioned that the company is working to expand Apple Intelligence to include more languages, specifically localised English for India.
“We’re putting in a lot of effort to enhance Apple Intelligence. In April, we will introduce support for additional languages, including French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and simplified Chinese, along with localised English for Singapore and India,” Cook stated during Apple’s Q1 earnings call.
Apple Intelligence was initially launched in October of last year with the iOS 18.1 update for compatible iPhones. At first, it was available only in English (US), but it later expanded to include localised English for regions like the UK, Australia, and Canada.
Key takeaways from Apple’s Q1 earnings call
In response to a question about Apple’s performance in emerging markets, Cook pointed out strong results in various regions, especially in India, where the iPhone was the best-selling model for the quarter. To support this growth, he announced that Apple is set to open four new stores in the country.
Last year, Apple revealed plans to enhance its retail presence in India by adding four more stores. The new Apple locations are planned for Bengaluru, Pune, Delhi-NCR, and Mumbai. This will complement the two existing stores in Delhi’s Saket and Mumbai’s BKC, which opened in April 2023.
Discussing Apple’s enterprise presence in India, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Kevan Parekh, noted that there has been significant demand in the region. “For instance, Zomato, a prominent food ordering and delivery service in India, has implemented thousands of Macs across their workforce to drive innovation,” he added.
